Dr. Eric Chevalier was born and raised in Montreal and earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Montreal School of Optometry in 2014, graduating with a Certificate of Excellence in Ophthalmic Optics. Before pursuing optometry, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Doctorate in Molecular Biology, reflecting his strong foundation in science and research.
During his optometric training, Dr. Chevalier gained advanced clinical experience through internships at the Eye Center of South Florida—where he focused on glaucoma management, diabetic eye care, cataract surgery, and dry eye disease—and at LASIK MD, where he provided both pre- and post-operative care for refractive surgery patients.
Dr. Chevalier joined Old South Optometry as an associate in 2014 and became the sole owner of the clinic in March 2022. Over the years, he built up a strong reputation for providing thorough, comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages, including pediatric eye exams, specialized contact lens fittings, myopia management, and full-scope ocular health management.
A passionate community advocate, Dr. Chevalier led a humanitarian optometry mission to South America in 2012, a formative experience that continues to inspire his ongoing involvement in community outreach. He is proud to be part of the patient-focused team at Old South Optometry.
Fluent in both French and English, Dr. Chevalier enjoys connecting with patients in their preferred language. Outside the clinic, he is a proud husband and father to three daughters and one son. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, including nature walks, bike rides, and visits to the playground.
