Dr. Eric Chevalier grew up in Montreal and graduated from the University of Montreal, School of Optometry in 2014. He received a certificate of excellence in ophthalmic optics. Prior to receiving his optometry degree, Dr. Chevalier completed a doctorate in molecular biology and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. Dr. Chevalier joined Old South Optometry as an associate in 2014 and became a partner in 2017.
During his optometric studies, he completed an internship at the Eye Center of South Florida, an ophthalmological clinic specializing in glaucoma management, diabetes care, cataract surgery, and dry eye disease, as well as an internship at LASIK MD, providing pre- and post-operative care for refractive surgery.
Dr. Chevalier enjoys doing eye examinations for all family members, from pediatric eye care to comprehensive eye examination, specialized contact lens fitting, and complete management of ocular health conditions.
In 2012, Dr. Chevalier directed a group of his classmates in a humanitarian project in South America. This positive experience motivated him to become involved in different community activities in order to help as many people as possible and, as such, he is very happy to join the community-focused team at Old South Optometry.
Dr. Chevalier parle Français… and he is happy to speak English as well! Dr. Chevalier is a proud husband and father of 3 daughters and one son. He enjoys nature walks, bike rides… and the playground!
Dr. Angelica Tewari, Optometrist
Old South Optometry would like to welcome the newest member of our Doctor Team – Dr. Angelica Tewari.
Dr. Tewari completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree with distinction in 2013 at Western University. She continued on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, where she graduated on the Dean’s Honours List in 2020.
During her optometry program, Dr. Tewari completed an internship at a busy clinic in rural Saskatchewan where she managed a variety of ocular diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, and diabetic retinopathy. She also completed internships at TLC and LASIK MD, providing pre- and post-operative care for refractive surgery patients. In addition, Dr. Tewari took part in a mission trip to Moldova, where she provided eye care to the underprivileged population of Chisinau. During her final year, Dr. Tewari was personally selected to accompany the Eye Health Institute (EHI) on a mission trip to Jamaica, where she helped manage and treat a variety of glaucoma cases alongside an ophthalmologist.
Having previously worked as an optometric assistant at Old South Optometry (2015-2016), Dr. Tewari is ecstatic to come back and serve the community she knows and loves. In addition to English, Dr. Tewari is also fluent in both Hindi and Punjabi. Outside of optometry, Dr. Tewari enjoys hiking, trying new cuisines, watching Bollywood movies, and most importantly, she is a huge dog lover!
Dr. Tewari is looking forward to continuing in the Old South Optometry tradition of providing the very best in primary eye care diagnosis, prevention, and treatment to the patients of London.
Dr. Tarnbir Thind, Optometrist
Dr. Thind joined the team at Old South Optometry in 2023. She received her Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2019. Dr. Thind gained a wide range of experience and knowledge while studying in Florida, in particular, Ocular diseases while working along side ophthalmologists in Miami.
Although she enjoyed the sunny weather in Florida, she is happy to return home to Canada. She spent the last 3 years back in her home town and now has moved to London to start the next chapter of her life. She is excited to serve the London community!
In her free time, Dr. Thind likes to make puzzles, read books and go hiking.
Dr. Marcella Bauman, Retired / Founding Optometrist
Dr. Marcella Bauman launched her comprehensive optometry practice in London’s Wortley Village in 1995 as a solo practitioner. By 2008, it had evolved into a multi doctor optometry practice known as Old South Optometry. She retired from Old South Optometry in 2020. Since then, Dr. Bauman has been able to focus on two of her passions, travel and photography. Some of her images can be found at www.baumanphotographs.com.
